
Mantra Yoga
10 February 2025Mantra Yoga, also known as the Yoga of Sound, is a spiritual practice that revolves around the repetition or chanting of sacred sounds, words, or phrases (mantras) to achieve a higher state of consciousness, inner peace, and self-realization. The word “mantra” comes from the Sanskrit roots “man” (meaning mind) and “tra” (meaning tool or instrument), so a mantra is essentially a tool to control or quiet the mind.
Mantra Yoga emphasizes the power of sound to influence the body, mind, and spirit. Through the repeated chanting or silent repetition of specific mantras, the practitioner can transcend the distractions of the external world and reach a state of deep inner focus, leading to spiritual awakening and liberation.
